In our series of wacky-looking rehearsal photos: Csaba Jegercsik as Abronsius, Victor Posta as Herbert and László Sánta as Alfred. Budapest production.

singfurimmer:

I interrupt the Carpe Noctem marathon with a video of the Draußen Ist Freiheit reprise and Finale from the Hungarian version.

I’m not sure of the actors…I think that’s Zsanett again. *Looks at foralfred hopefully for help on identifying the Alfred*

(Also, I love the audience clapping during the finale. It’s probably the most iconic dance scene in the musical, instantly recognizable to Tanz fans, and it may be odd, but I sort of see it as representative of the musical as a whole. It’s dark, but so much fun.)

Ah, I had somehow missed out on the fact that this was on YouTube! It’s László Sánta as Alfred (he’s very recognisable, nobody else has that much curly hair!) and Zsanett as Sarah.

I wish there were some newer videos of László as Alfred. This one is fairly early on, and while I liked him already in the early times, later when he grew more into the role he got so much better, still remaining one of the best Alfreds I know. Sadly it’s been a long time since I saw him live, so details of his performance are beginning to fade from my memory. Though I still miss some of the things he always did.

Lászlo Sánta as Alfred, Budapest production. Another one of László-Alfred with the book, because this is one of my favourite Alfred-with-the-book pics overall - just love his expression.

Alfred (László Sánta) and Professor Abronsius (Csaba Jegercsik, I think) realising the implications of finding Magda’s vampire-sucked body where Chagal’s vampire-sucked body was supposed to be.

At least half the times I saw László as Alfred, when he turned back to look towards the audience (and Chagal) in this scene, he’d look like he’s about to crack up. Somehow, I still miss it each time I see the musical (and am absolutely delighted when another Alfred actor is close to cracking up, though sadly that happens much more rarely).
